Coaching Service
Get the business fundamentals right
Most shops are built by someone who was good at the work, not someone who set out to run a company — and the paperwork usually reflects that. The first session goes through the foundation: whether the business is registered correctly, whether you have an EIN and a sales tax permit, whether the people working for you are classified properly as W-2 or 1099, and whether QuickBooks is actually connected to how you operate. These are unglamorous, and they are the things that turn into expensive problems later if they're wrong.
Set up books that match how your shop actually works
A chart of accounts built for a generic small business tells you very little about a shop. We restructure your QuickBooks accounts around your real services and workflow, so parts, labor, sublet, and materials land where they belong. From there you can see which work makes money and which doesn't — and you stay current on sales tax and audit-ready without a scramble at year end.
Write a real business plan and a twelve-month roadmap
Not a document for a bank. A working plan with targets you can check yourself against: revenue, profitability, staffing, and the equipment purchases you're aiming for. We build it with you, then break it into a twelve-month sequence so there's a specific thing to do next rather than a vague intention to grow.
Track the numbers that tell you whether it's working
Every session runs off your actual data. We pull billable hours, revenue, parts sales, and employee efficiency out of MSA into the coaching worksheet, then look at what moved since last time and what didn't. That's the difference between coaching and encouragement — you leave each session with numbers, not just ideas. If you want to understand the framework behind it first, the shop profitability guide covers how the effective hourly rate is calculated.
Tighten up operations and customer service
Better service usually costs less effort, not more, once the process is set. We work through your check-in and check-out flow, put MSA's messaging and automation tools to work on the follow-ups you're doing by hand, and cut the back-and-forth that eats your afternoons.
How the sessions work
Coaching runs best as a recurring monthly meeting — measure, change something, then see what it did. That said, you're under no obligation to continue after the first session. Larger shops, or shops moving fast on changes, sometimes do more than one session a month.
Each session is $300. That covers running the reports and building the metrics we measure your progress against, plus the meeting itself where we go through the results and set the plan for the next month. If you have questions about how the process works, reach out on the support page.
